The Global Golf4 Cancer 4-Flag campaign was launched on March 4th 2017 when Nick Edmund, the Founder of Global Golf4 Cancer, began a walk of almost 2,000km (1,200 miles) along the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland carrying a set of clubs. The purpose of this ‘golf-walk’ was to visit 40 golf clubs and personally deliver a GG4C 4-Flag to each club after playing their 4th hole – so raising awareness for the campaign and its goals.
A second regional campaign commenced in Scotland in October 2018 (‘Turnberry to Dornoch via St Andrews’) and a third in Northern Ireland in March 2019 (‘Lough Erne to County Down via Portrush’). Golf clubs in England and Wales began flying the flag on February 4th (World Cancer Day) 2020. Each of these four regional campaigns is on-going; moreover, the concept of golf clubs supporting Global Golf4 Cancer and flying the GG4C 4-Flag on special occasions is now being mirrored through a series of bespoke campaigns in every continent.
